I'd venture and say that the incorrect temperature reading is coming from your onboard sensor.

I am not so sure. I just installed the latest version, after running Core Temp x64 v0.99.7.0 100626 for sometime.

The latest version is indicating temperatures over 20 degrees higher (celsius) than the older version showed.

I am overclocking an i7-950 to 4.14, with a Noctua NH-D14, four 120mm Antec fans (plus one from the Corsair PS), and at idle, I am showing between 60-70 degrees celsius -- it normally shows 41-45.

Nothing was changed except for the new software.

What think you? :?

Could be that you have "Display the distance to TjMax" checked in this version or you had it checked in the old one.
Temperature monitoring code didn't change for the i7 series from 0.99.7.

I have no idea what it was (TjMax was unchecked in both), but I use ProLasso (http://bitsum.com/), and was going through running processes, and terminated those which should not have been running. These processes' use of the CPU was nil, but they did have double-digit handles open. I do not recall which processes I terminated.

Upon closing ProLasso, I noted that my current temp was 48. If CoreTemp is in the taskbar (Win7), temp goes back and forth between 48 and 54. Having it simply display the highest current temperature (of all the cores/threads) in the system tray, the temp remains stable at 48.
