1.0RC2 sometime shows incorrect CPU frequency

Post by ricky119 »

My CPU is Intel T9900(3.06GHz) with Speedstep enabled.
so i turned on "fly FSB detetion" in CoreTemp since 0.98
I didn't see any incorrect frequency in before version(0.98, 1.0RC1) but sometimes i can get definitely incorrect frequency in 1.0RC2, like 3.7GHz, 5.6GHz

This is true. There's a bug that I haven't caught yet. It causes Core Temp to sometimes detect incorrect FSB frequency, which in turn causes the CPU frequency to display an incorrect value.
I am working on it.

I've seen this too - its reporting the bus speed incorrectly (reported as 266MHz, should be 133MHz) and this in turn throws off all the calculations by which the frequency is calculated.

I'm aware of this problem and this is one of the last few things that needs to be fixed before Core Temp gets out of RC status.

I get this same problem when my PC resumes from Sleep mode, it shows my FSB at 800 MHz instead of the correct 400MHz. The previous version I had installed, 0.99.7, does not exhibit this behaviour.

Coolest, if there is anything we can do to help narrow this down (e.g. debug build) please let us know.

This problem has been fixed, so the next version won't have it anymore.
