Incorrect temperatures reported

Post by n_pickles »

I was trying to use CoreTemp to monitor the CPU temp on some POS kit we are using.

It is an Intel Atom D510 dual core PineView CPU, which is all identified okay, it just seems to show too low a temperature.

If I leave the machine running idle in Windows for a while, the case, which is also a heatsink for the CPU, is warm to the touch.

If I run CoreTemp it reports 19 and 21 degrees C for each core respectively which doesn't seem right, if I reboot and go into the bios and check the temperature it reports 49 and 51 degrees C for each core respectively. The higher temps seem more realistic given the warm case. Restarting Windows and CoreTemp returns the same temps as before, 19 & 21 degrees C.

Any ideas ?
