CoreTemp freezing system

Post by JonIrenicus »

Seven x64
Sometimes, after launching CoreTemp, system works strange...
I try to call task manager (alt-ctrl-del), launch Firefox, qip infium or Thunderbird, nothing happened. I can move mouse pointer. After 2-5 minutes the system is awakening and all programs running.

I'm not sure why or how Core Temp could affect the system in such a way.
- Does Core Temp start up and update normally, even though other apps don't start?
- Can you see what the CPU usage is for Core Temp in this period when nothing else works?

I'm not sure, but even task manager shows zero activity, if I run it before.
If i call it in time (Alt-Ctrl-Del) - nothing happened at all.

Does it happen every the time or sometimes?

Every the time as I start CoreTemp. In 1-3 minutes all works fine.

I'm having a sort of reverse version of this problem with my newest system. Coretemp starts up ok, but within 15 minutes of startup, the system freezes. My freezes are total, including pointer, and a hard reboot is required. If Coretemp isn't loaded, no freezes.

hp xw9400, 2x Opteron 2439SE, Quadro 4600, XP 64 bit, Coretemp 1.0 64 bit.

I am still finding weird freezing with version 1.0.

On two I7-2700k systems, both with different Asus P8Z68 motherboards, sometimes Coretemp starts instantainiously and other times it takes minutes and while it is starting, the mouse moves but nothing happens when you select something. After Coretemp finally starts, everything you clicked on starts at the same time.

I have exactly the same problem as the original poster. When I run coretemp nothing new can load for 2-3 minutes. Everything that is already running continues to work fine. After that the system works normally.
Sometimes I get the same situation with installers that add services to the system (not often though). I guess it has something to do with services.exe (another user in some other forum said the same thing) but I couldn't find what's wrong.

It turns out the problem was outpost firewall. I disabled driver load protection and now coretemp runs instantaneously.
