Sandy Bridge not recognized

Post by easycrossy »

Hi first off all i wish to say, that CoreTemp is my absolute favorite temperature-monitoring-tool.

But my new System equipped with a i7 2600K SandyBridge Processor is not corretly shown.
None of the data except the Temperatures and Lithography are correct. :?
Is there something to do for me to fix this?
or must i wait for the next generation of CT and if - when will it be released ?

btw is it normal that the cores show so much Difference in the temps???
even under load the temperaturedifferences are like this.

sorry for my bad english   :(

thanks a lot for reading

The Sandy Bridge detection has a couple of problems in the current version.
This everything will be fixed in the next release, which should be here quite soon.

Could you please post a CPU-z 'report' file? I'm seeing some information is missing from Core Temp's reports, I want to see if CPU-z manages it properly.

Hey there, long time core temp user here. Thanks for the amazing software!

I just built my new sandy bridge rig and am having the same issue. Not sure if it will help but I took a screenshot of my desktop with core temp, real temp and cpu-z running.

Thanks again and I'm definitely looking forward to the next release.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

This version of Core Temp is getting outdated, and I'm working on something new for quite a while now.
0.99.8 has a problem with detecting the CPU frequency on SNB chips, and also doesn't show a Model string.
On the other hand, things such as Tj. Max and temperature are still correct, since Intel has not changed anything in that regard in their CPUs so Core Temp can still work reliably in this regard.

Same issue, I'll just upload my CPUZ report file as it seems it can offer some info for you.

For me the main problem seems to be that it doesn't recognize the multiplier correctly. Coretemp shows 100x34, while in fact my cpu is running at 100x45. Temperatures, like you mentioned, seem realistic and OK so atm I'm still using coretemp.
