Slight issue with Core Temp Gadget

Post by higgboth »

First of all thank you for this utility I like the easy glance to see speed/temp etc with it. I use the zoom to size it to match my other gadgets it is at 85%. I align the gadet where I want it on screen. When I reboot it is slightly moved to the left, like the scaling is anchoring it for 100% not the 85% I use. As I said I just move it over to the right when I reboot so its not a huge issue. But since I tend to be AR I thought I would see if there is something I can do about it.

Thank you again for this gadget and program.

I am using win 7 64 sp1 on a Asus Striker Extream II if that is needed.

Unfortunately there's no control over this. I'll see what can be done, but I can't make any promises that this problem can be solved because Windows is the one responsible for positioning the gadgets.

Interesting as I see the same "shift" in position to the left on reboot. The only other time I've seen this is with the Norton Security Gadget when we upgraded to Win7 from Vista. Does the exact same thing. Wonder if it's something in Win7 that's changed from previous OS.

This was a bug and it'll be fixed in the next release of the gadget.

I've also been experiencing something similar (I have the gadget set to 85% too).

To me, what seems to be happening is that when the gadget is loading on startup, if it becomes ready before Core Temp itself is fully loaded, while waiting it shows a message saying that Core Temp is off. When this message is displayed it forces the gadget back to 100% size which shifts it out of position slightly and away from the edge of the screen. When the gadget reverts back to 85% I have to manually move it back into it's intended position.

Anyway, it looks like you're on the case for the next release which is great.
Thanks for continuing to offer and maintain such a useful utility. :)

Yes, that is the bug I mentioned above.
A new version of the gadget will probably be released together with Core Temp. It should be pretty soon.
