tiny bug

Post by salsoul »

hello all first post here,

and the reason for that is ive never had to post here before until now,

Been using core temp for a while now, love it :) couldnt imagine my pc without it

I seem to have spotted a small bug in temp high/low

they seem to be the wrong way round, its been fine up until i switched to to the latest version.0.99.8

Oh btw thanks for the tjmax support in latest version for my AMD x6 was curious what the max temp for my chip was. 8)

I love your program...

here is a snip of core temp.

 EDIT: I think I may have answered my own question here, now that tjmax is supported are the low/high readings now distance to the tjmax temp..?

It is a small bug, you need to manually disable "Distance to TjMax" from the Advanced tab in Settings.

thanks for the heads up.

btw another small problem is that the tray icon doesnt appear at startup, there is an entry in msconfig for it to start with windows and the core temp gadget works as its reading the temps and the program is running in task manger but no tray icon ? its enabled in the new gui but until I press apply no tray icon appears, and when I come to reboot I have to go through the same process to get it to show the tray icon.

hope this help

keep up the awesome work 8)

This is another bug which will be gone in the next release. Right now it happens because Core Temp starts before the system tray. Starting with the next version, Core Temp will take this issue into consideration as well.

Hi, when I unchecked "Display the distance to TJ Max in Temperature Fields", under "Settings/Advanced", I noticed my temperature readings immediately went way up, and they were still registering backwards! Am I complying properly with your instructions?

Thanx,

Kity

Also, how do you get the screen-shot to display in this field? I tried clicking on "Img" but it didn't work.

What processor do you have?
Also when you click the 'Img' button you'll see [img][/ img] tags appear. You have to paste then URL to the image between those tags.

My processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU 6600@2.40 GHz 239 GHz, 4 GB Ram, WIN XP Pro.

Can you give me slightly more specific instructions as to how to get a saved image to appear on this board, as I'm not sure I quite understand how to deal with pasting the image saved on my hard drive between the two img tags, or what the URL button has to do with this??? I copied my image and tried to paste it between the two "img" tags but there was no paste option to be found when I right-clicked in between the two "img" tags...(?) :?

Thanx,

Kity

You have to upload an image to a image host, one that I like to use is www.imgur.com
After you upload an image it will present you with a list of links (URLs), you select the one that is called "Message boards" and simply paste it into your post, it already contains those tags so it's a simple Copy & Paste procedure.

Went to http://www.imgur.com, but the first thing it did was ask ME to type in a url. The image is on my hard drive, not on the net, so how can I give them a url? Sorry, can you be a little more explicit, as I'm having a devil of a time trying to figure this out!

Here's my first try and I think I've got it now.

Just a pic of the Core Temp Display before removing the checkmark from Settings/Advanced/DisplayTheDistanceToTJMaxInTemperatureFields.

The second shot is how the display looks after I remove the checkmark from DisplayTheDistanceToTJMaxInTemperatureFields.

Aren't the temps reversed in the high/low fields? Why the difference in the farenheit high/low readings when this checkmark is removed. Those are my questions!

Thanks for your patient help in showing me the ropes!

The way Intel processors work is that they have a predetermined TjMax value, which is the maximum temperature which should not be crossed.
The digital thermal sensors (DTS) in the CPU reports a delta to the TjMax value. Meaning that if your processor has a 100C TjMax and its current temperature is 60C, the sensors report 40C, if the temperature is 70C, the sensors report 30C. Basically the higher the actual temperature, the closer you are to the TjMax.
So this is the reason, why disabling "Distance to TjMax" increased your temperature. It never really increased anyway, simply you were looking at the "wrong" values before.

I'll take your word for it, since I don't understand anything you said, sorry... :?
I'll just have to assume that if the temperature gets anywhere near my 185 degree F max, I'm in trouble!

Thanks for trying to explain,

Yep, that's the short answer :)
Ideally you should keep temps at 150F or lower.
