CPU Frequency not updating with SpeedStep

Post by LazerFX »

I am running a new board (Asus P8P67 Deluxe) with a new CPU (Intel I5-2500k), and the reported clock speed in Core Temp and in gadgets using information from Core Temp is not updating correctly. For instance, Asus Probe reports that the clock speed drops as low as GHz (100.4 x 16), and goes as high as GHz (102.1 x 34) depending on usage and OC; however Core Temp does not move from GHz (100.34 x 33.0). If I OC using the Asus tuning (Either in EFI (new-style BIOS) or through Windows) I can go as high as GHz, but still Core Temp shows the same values.

Not sure if this is an issue with the EFI interface, Core Temp, Win 7 x64 or something else... would be nice to have the live view of the CPU Frequency though. This seemed to work fine on my previous system (A 2.66Ghz Core2Duo E6700 on an Asus P5W DH Deluxe) when I turned SpeedStep on (Usually had it off - had some crashes that I think I traced back to that, never seemed to happen with it off, anyway).

Great, thanks. If you need any debug info, feel free to drop me a line and I'll try it out on my system. Thanks for the quick reply!
