Settings "CoreTemp Nor Running" when CT is running

Post by Czen »

Hello peoples!

Just a minute ago my CT gadget was working fine on version 2.5, i noticed it said "2.6 now available!" at the bottom and I'm a stickler for getting every update for the software I have so I did! I uninstalled 2.5 then installed 2.6

The settings were at default so I went to muck around a bit and discovered when I clicked on the settings button it tells me "Core Temp is not running." the message about how to get CT and then "Internal Error Message: ". Problem is core temp is alive and kicking showing the normal fluctuating values in the gadget when I get this message. (Screenshot Attached)

I uninstalled / reinstalled both Core Temp and its gadget along with many reboots and still cannot get into my settings menu, I would really like to turn off some features and shrink it down a bit, heck even change the colors because I'm that OCD about it matching my background please help!

I tried it myself and couldn't recreate the problem.
Try to fully remove the gadget's folder from your machine and reinstall it again.
If worse comes to worse, simply try v2.5 for now until we can investigate what causes this issue.

First off thank you for the quick response!

I searched around for a while and couldn't find a place to download 2.5, every link that appeared to have it ended up being 2.6 once downloaded. Is there an archive of old versions to download from? Also I'll try the gadget's folder and anything else I can muster up and let you know if I ever get it working heh...

Thanks again :)

Just when I thought Win7 was perfect....

I guess my gadgets overall were messing up, today my date&time gadget started freezing the clock after the computer was on for a short time. So after a few times of trying to make sure sidebar .exe and other gadgets were fully closed and then rebooting the computer, the settings on CT are now working as well as the options of other gadgets being set back to their defaults, which makes me feel that everything is back to normal now.

Thanks again for trying to help me out, I appreciate your time :)

Hey,
Run DebugViewer and then start the gadget, then try to start Core Temp.
See if it catches any output, if it does, please paste it here.

hmmm. Does the gadget itself display the information? It seems from the screenshot that it does, and only the Settings screen doesn't work correctly.
Could you see what the DebugViewer says when you try to open Settings while Core Temp is running?

Very strange problem indeed.
It's weird since it doesn't happen all the time but in very rare and isolated cases. I'm almost certain that the problem could somehow be related to the way IE is configured on your system, or maybe something else about it.
