Wrong temp on Atom D525 when coming out of sleep

Post by mjoa »

Hello, first post to forums. First just want to say thanks, been using Core Temp for a couple of years now and love it.

Just started using on an Asus 1215n netbook with Atom D525 and almost every time I wake the system from a long sleep Core Temp reports a temp of 133 for a minute or so. Then it fluctuates back and forth from that and the actual temp, which starts of in single digits as the computer has been cool, until the cpu approaches it's normal idling temp of around 35 - 39 degrees. It consistently reports 133 degrees in this situation until it "levels off" and goes back to normal. Not stopping me from using the app but thought it might be worth mentioning as I guess this is a fairly new processor.

Specs for the netbook are here:

Cheers,
Mike

It seems that many Atom CPUs have buggy DTS. There's not much Core Temp can do to overcome this problem since it's as if the sensor (or something else) shuts itself off and doesn't report a proper value to monitoring software anymore.
I can't be sure but it could also be that some other program or even the BIOS is accessing the same registers as Core Temp at the same time and that could cause problems as well.
