Any chance of Core Temp combined into Vista Sidebar gadget?

Post by soul_traveller »

I had been using speedfan and a sidebar gadget someone else had made and he had it so that you can use speedfan with his gadget to be able to see temps, but I don't like speed fan much and was wondering if you could build or if someone else could build a gadget with this program merged into it?

Sorry if I am asking alot, just curious and thought it would be really nice to have as I really like Core Temp and thought it might be an idea to explore.

Thanks!

A member has already made one, I think it's pretty cool.

I'm now working on making it actually only show the correct number of cores. The current version only shows 4 cores always and takes up expensive gadget space.

Super, I got it and it works...glad you are working on the cores it sees as well.

I had a few issues uninstalling/installing it and the gadget but it works fine now (had to get the beta version of Core Temp)

I only wish it could see and control fan/fan speeds like speedfan, cause I don't like speed fans GUI...too messy! But it would be nice if your program had the same feature.

Also, it would be nice to have the option of turing off the tray temps when using the side bar, either automatically, or a manual option to save tray icon space.

Oh, and...I was trying so hard recently to learn some javascript to try and build some gadgets of my own, but it's really tough to understand...is there any place you could recommend that would be easier to read up on building gadgets?

Or is there a program the could help out?

I wanna get in on the action if at all possible!

This is a great place to start.
Having some programming background in C really helps as its basically the same syntax.

Regarding fan control, the things is that for me to do that means I will have to add support for every single SuperI/O chip and add individual motherboard support. This is not what Core Temp is all about.
It's a simple run-it-and-forget utility.

I will add an option to simply show the Core Temp logo in the system tray.
