Logging feature request

Post by gork »

In the log, PLEASE add a column with the current time! The data points are nearly useless without a time reference. IMO this is a fairly major shortcoming in an otherwise fantastic little utility.

Initially I thought one could determine the time by stepping through the data points since the starting time is logged and the points are logged at a set interval; however this is not the case if Core Temp has been left running while the machine was in a suspend/hibernate state. Also depending on how the timer is fired, it's also possible that this would drift over time anyway.

Agreed, RMClock and Speedfan have a timestamp column. Keep CT competitive; it is much leaner and meaner either the other two I mentioned :)

Post by QueueNut »

I second the motion to add a date and time stamp (the current o.s. date/time) to each data point written to the log file. A very useful addition that would be much appreciated.

Please further consider adding the date and time stamp to the first column (or first 2 columns) of the log output record.

Time stamps are naturally very useful for graphing and for analysis in conjunction with other data.

(note: am presently running 0.95.0.0)

Thank you for your efforts to date on this software. Logging is a good feature that others (e.g., Intel) miss.
