Conroe temp under linux

Post by ORC »

Hi. Im trying to make intel conroe temperature reader under linux. I have a test platform on intel S5000XVN motherboard and two intel xeon 5160 processors. Then i try to get current temperature of core by reading it from build-in bmc via ipmi, i have recived underzero value (like -40 in idle and -10 in full power). I try to read some documentaion on intel web site, and i have found, that this temperature is delta from current temperature and TJ of processor. Then i try to find that TJ temperature, i only found max t-case temp. Then i try to subtract what values, i have recived wrong temperatures of cores. An example: t-case-max of 5160 at full load is 60 (this value i have found in intel pdf for 51xx series processors), delta on full load is -8. Result is 52, and its normal. But in idle i have delta -42, and result is 18. It is wrong.
And finaly is question - there i have find real tj values? I can read parms from MSR, but i cant find value i need.

p.s. Sorry for my english :)
