Would it be possible to have the system tray icon display the temp., not just a balloon thingy with the temp????

Yes, I've been thinking about it, and I haven't figured out how to do that yet. If I find a way to do it I'll be sure to add it. Because I know that the white icon is pretty lame.

Temperature display in the system tray would be a big plus. Otherwise the best tool of its kind imo (& I have tested a quite a few) in terms of accuracy & range. I run a Prometia Mach II for cpu cooling & CoreTemp is the only app I have found capable of registering such (up to -30F) temps.

This is a feature that I would really like too.

I love CoreTemp!

My Asrock Dual939 MB didn't come with any monitoring software, and I don't like the nuisance of Speedfan or SysTool when the only sensor I even pay any attention to is the CPU temperature. So CoreTemp is just about exactly what I need. The only thing that could make it better would be if the taskbar icon displayed the temperature.

Core Temp 0.95 is in the final phase of testing.
It has temperature in the system tray

How about an option to show only the highest temperature in the system tray.

My suggested options are:

show all (for a dual processor quad-core system this will be result in eight shown temperatures)
show highest temperature for each cpu (two temperatures will be shown for the example above)
show only highest temperature (only one temperature will be shown)

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
I've thought about this and I hope to make the system tray fully customizable.

This is just me brainstorming about it:
Up-to 8 colors (if core count is at or greater than 8 ), if there are more than 8 cores then the colors will "recycle".
change system tray font.
Thinking about also changing the font size, but I don't think that would be needed.
Adding the ability to only show one temperature per socket and one temperature overall. An option to show average temp, but again, that would be useless.

Being able to change the color(s) of the tray icons would be very helpful since not all colors are easily visible on all taskbars. In my case blue is far too difficult to read.

Maybe if the icons had a black background it would be less of a problem.

I agree and I'm working on implementing a window where you will be able to change the settings of the system tray display.
Here's the layout (it's not really done yet, just the window design), let me know what you think or give suggestions of what could be added\fixed.

A little update.
Here's a screenshot of some work in progress.

The basics work, this week I'm going to be working on making all the settings in the screenshot in my earlier post work, and will hopefully start internal testing very very soon.
