My temp is ZERO too

I've a PII X4 and Core Temp reports 0C(?) for my temp... On the other hand, HWMonitor from cpuid.com seems to work properly and reports temps SYSTIN, CPUTIN, and AUXTIN that match what the bios hwmon shows.

MB is an Asrock AOD790GX/128M with the latest bios...

I don't know what the problem is, but HWMonitor shows you motherboard temperatures while Core Temp only displays temps reported by the on-die CPU sensor.
I believe this is still a bios issue, but not 100% sure.

It is BIOS related

I decided to try an older bios on my asrock aod790gx and now core temp is working again. I downgraded to v1.30 from v1.50. v1.30 is the first bios asrock has listed that supports the PII X4.

I played a bit more with my bios and have discovered that it's not really just a bios issue but also bios settings involving AMD's "cool n' quiet" tech... if it's enabled, core temp shows 0. When disabled (as it was using the bios defaults), core temp shows the temp.

I discovered this after noticing my comp was running louder and hotter than it was before I downgraded the bios. I had used bios defaults and cool n' quiet was disabled. When I enabled, core temp showed 0 again.

However, latest bios shows 0 no matter how cool n' quiet is set.

Again, for others info I've a PII X4 running on an Asrock AOD790GX. Others who have a zero temp may want to see if cool n quiet settings affect their readings using Core Temp.

Can you tell me if HWMonitor still reports "core" temps when Core Temp reports 0?
The temps I'm talking about in HWMonitor appear under the CPU's name.
