How do I remove core temp?

Post by CoreTemp-User130 »

After scanning my computer with Avast, I found that core temp was labeled as a trojan. Though it may be a false positive, I had not used core temp in about a year so I decided to delete it, but couldn't because apparently it was being used by another process (strange). I tried opening up core temp, but couldn't do that either when it gave me an error saying I did not have the appropriate permission to access the item. I tried looking up the process in task manager, but couldn't find any process names that resembled core temp. Avast could not move it to the virus chest or heal it either. This might be the solution to all my recent crashing (which started after a sudden freeze in L4D followed by a series of BSODs during startups). Can anyone give me advice on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

That's a little bit strange.
My first suggestion would be to try and go into safe mode and log in as an administrator and just delete the file.
Core Temp doesn't install anything on your system, it's also the only process in the executable, so I don't see why it would be in use.
