Coretemp virus warning!!!

Post by CoreTemp-User104 »

Hi,

I tried running Coretemp today and my Bitdefender antivirus flaged it down as a backdoor trojan virus and wouldn't let it run. I tried downloading it straight from the Coretemp site and depending on the version of bitdefender antivirus I had on a particular machine it would either block the download or not let it run and delete the file from the archive. Not only that it found two different trojans on two different versions of Coretemp. Can anyone else confirm this?

Thanks.

BitFender Virus Report

Post by CoreTemp-User105 »

I also just got this threat notification from BitDefender that CoreTemp is a backdoor trojan & bot. This had to be due to an update of the BitDefender signature file during the last sweep of my PC.

BitDefender terminated the Core Temp process but it seems to be ok once I restarted it. I am using version .95 of Core Temp.

I am going to the BitDefender site to notify them if someone hasn't already.

PS Thanks for a great tool. It saved my PC from frying.

false positive?

Post by CoreTemp-User104 »

Bitdefender also said that Acronis' Trueimagemonitor.exe is a Trojan....

Wondering if this is all a 'false positive' report!

Thanks.

total recall

I scanned the file with Kapersky Labs free web based scanner and it came up clean. Must be a false positive!

We have gotten a few of these in the past.

It has also been verified by softpedia if you're uncertain:

Thank you Impostor. I have notified BitDefender (again) and provided BitDefender support the info you provided.

FYI. I have just re-sent the pertinent info to BitDefender in the format requested by BitDefender. A ticket is open. They will analyze and I expect they will fix it ASAP. I will update this topic again when I get confirmation from BitDefender.

BTW, in my case the Core Temp process is killed by BitDefender but the EXE is not deleted from my drive.

It looks like it was fixed.

I did not get a final response back from BitDefender support but I no longer have the problem on my PC for the past 2 days.

FYI it was BitDefender ticket #:

[ID:200901191010354] BitDefender False Positive for Core Temp
