AMD 5000+ Black Edition - Core Temp Reporting 9c/11c

Hi all,

I just swapped out my 4600+ ( 65W ) for a 5000+ Black edition. Now, I know my temps are going to be on the high side as I have a shuttle sn27p2 with an 8800gts in it and 2 HD's. My 4600 would idle at ~39c and ~48 at load using Coretemp.

To be honest, I'm no expert on this temp stuff. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to boil my 5000+. If anyone can shed some light on it for me, I would be grateful.

I have just about every temp monitor known to man installed on my system and I think every one of them is wrong on the temp. At Idle:

BIOS = 36c
XPCTools = 31c
CoreTemp = 9c/11c ( both v95 and v95.4 )
hmonitor = 44c/11c
SiSoftware = 19c/20c

CoreTemp seems to be the farthest from the true temp ( whatever it is ). I would expect the 5000+ to be hotter than the 4600+ as the voltages and MHz are higher - but maybe I'm just assuming too much. Either way, the 5000+ Black Edition doesn't play well with CoreTemp.

The DTS on the Brisbane chips just doesn't report correct temperature. I am not sure why, but that's just the way it is.

Besides not reading the 5000+ BE temps right, it also doesn't read the correct voltage. I've overclocked mine to 3.1Ghz (15.5 x 200 @ 1.425V) and it recognizes the clock speed correctly, but not the voltage. It still says 1.35V.

If you have this CPU, Speedfan seems to have the right temps, giving me about 30 idle right now (17 if I open my window though!) and about 45ish under load.

Core Temp doesn't read voltage, it reads VID. There's a difference.
