0.95.4 crashes after a few minutes

Post by papaschtroumpf »

It was stable while tweaking my new system (see sig), so I decided to start installing programs in XP. Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure of what all I installed:
I may have installed the latest NVIDIA drivers for my 7800GTX
I may have installed some windows updates
I installed Comodo Firewall for sure
I installed Kaperski antivirus for sure
I also reduced VCore slightly, Orthos is running solid so I doubt this has anything to do with CoreTEmp crashes, which is the only thing that carshes.
I also have not yet activated my copy of Windows, but I don;t think that's relevant since it was working fine during the initial tweaking and stability testing.

Now CoreTemp appears to work fine for a while (a few minutes to maybe 10 minutes), but eventually crashes. Since I haven't yet disabled error reporting in my installation of XP it offers to send a message to Micro$oft, which I of course never do.

I don't know if there is anything useful in the dump files that would be sent to microsoft, I can send them to you if you think it will help.

I'm somewhat reluctant to start uninstalling apps, like my firewall or antivirus to see if they are the culprit, although IUlike CoreTemp enough that I may do that to see if it helps.

That can usually happen when another program tries to access the log file.
Try to disable logging in the program's options.

Looks like that did the trick, must be the antivirus checking the log file.
