I also get this bug with CoreTemp: When you login using Remote Desktop, coretemp tray icons are just two black boxes, no temperature readings are visible. No display settings seem to make a difference with this bug.
Behavior is normal when logging in at the machine or when using VNC for remote login.

This bug reduces Coretemp's usefulness on any server machines that only have remote access options. I'd post a screenshot here but can' t sorry.

Thanks.

This problem occurs because they way the temperatures are displayed in the systray is rendered using Windows controls which require you to have "Full Acceleration" enabled. In RDC mode, this option is turned off and therefore the systray icons appear as black boxes (the text can't be rendered properly).

You can always just hover the mouse over the icons and it will display a tooltip with the temps.-

Hi,
I just noticed this related thread, http://www.alcpu.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=270
will the stated upcoming fix also work for RDC?

Thanks.

Just tested it, works perfect in RDC. The problem was in RDC, you're limited to 16bit color depth. That is what creates the problem. As I said this problem is now eliminated, and a new version is coming out soon. Small fixes of bugs and the fix to the BSOD problem, and the random shut downs on AMD rigs should be fixed now as well...
