Thank god its not just me, lol, I've been messing about all day trying to get to the bottom of the problem, now I know its not my system, I used this with one SATA drive and it crashes the system after using core temp 3 or 4 times in a row, but when I have two drives set to raid 0 it seems fine, it also seems slow to load when I click on core temp, the text comes up followed by the window, I’m using the Intel ICH7R controller, I’ve tried setting it to IDE and AHCI in bios but it makes no difference, the RAM is running at 4-4-4-12 800mhz and the core 2 is running stock at 9x

@coolest: you might consider removing the link to 0.95 from the main page to avoid confusion. maxxxim is the 3rd person I have read about who d/l'ed the older version thinking it was 0.95.4.

You are probably right. Although it was released as a public BETA, I think it is stable enough, as I haven't seen too many compaints about the new version :)

Hi,

new to this forum because I tried Coretemp and it kinda wrecked my system. What happenend?

I downloaded Coretemp (version 0.95.0.0) and opened it. I forgot I had Speedfan running in the background, and immediately got the BSOD as shown here in earlier posts, it had following message;

" Stop c000021A {Fatal System Error} The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x7C9106C3, 0x0069DCDC) The system has been shut down."

I did a reboot and then Speedfan wouldn't read my fan speeds anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled it without any result. It still won't give me my fan speeds.

Anyone any clue what might have caused this (Coretemp/Speedfan conflict is my best guess) and how to fix it?

Basic system specs; Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (no OC yet) on DFI Lanparty UT NF4, 2 x 1GB Buffalo DDR400, Win XP Pro Corporate SP2 (incl. updates and hotfixes).

TIA

Peter

New coretemp still BSOD/restarts computer!

Post by Vanusk »

My System:

Q6600 at 3420mhz (9X380)
Asus-P5k Deluxe Wi-FI P
Bios version 0404
North Bridge Intel P35
MSI 8800 Ultra using ForceWare Release 163 Version: 163.71 drivers
Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) running at 5-5-5-15 2.2v 1136mhz
Windows XP SP 2
2 150gig WD raptors running in Raid 0 on intel ICH9R raid driver/southbridge.
700w Thermaltake toughpower PS

I have 0 errors running any application (memtest/speedfan/orthos/prime) and my system is completely stable nothing else crashs.
I idle around 31c at a 22c room. Highest temps ive ever been able to get are 62c running TAT and 2 instances of Orthos stressing all 4 cores to 100% with a thermalright extreme and a 88cfm fan.

Ive tried coretemp .095 and coretemp .0954 and both will restart my computer as soon as i launch the exe (I see a BSOD for less then 1 second or i would tell you what it says).

One time i got a file (.dll error i think) before it rebooted but i couldnt catch it fast enough ill try to reproduce this again. Tried reinstalling it multiple times and in different locations.

Any ideas?

CPU and CPU speed settings (FSBxMultiplier): C2D E8500 - 333*9.5 (stock) and 400x9.5
Motherboard, chipset and driver version : Asus Maximus Formula X38, latest Asus drivers
Video card(s) and driver version : GF8800GT, latest nvidia drivers
Memory and speed settings : OCZ Reaper HPC PC8500 - 533MHz (stock)
OS and Service pack version : Windows XP PRO SP2 French

Core Temp sometimes triggers BSOD ( x00000007, x00000000 --> division by zero into device driver ;) )
It can happen when I start it (rarelly), or sometimes it can run for 3 days without trigerring the BSOD.
I have the same problem with Everest ultimate.

I would say it's some kind of a hardware glitch.
We don't use the same driver (so it can't be a code problem), and I have not had a single report about such sort of a crash since the begining.

I think I know why on my system Coretemp fails to run...

Get ready for this:

Bitdefender antivirus was doing it. Said it was on of two different trojans, depending of Coretemp versions....

WTF.

Seems that one user has already emailed the AV company, you may want to do the same, to make them notice this issue and take care of it.

Did that

Post by CoreTemp-User104 »

For all the good it does I put up a posting on their forum. They're tech support isn't that great. It also said my acronis files had a trojan backdoor bot or what ever. So I have reinstall that software. Pain...

But I scanned Coretemp with other scanners on the web like Kapersky and F-secure and it came up clean...

Thanks.
