Core Temp crashes/shuts down my AMD rig thread #1

Got BSOD when run Core Temp 0.95

There are unforeseeable restarts at the use 0.95.
0.94 work fine.

Just a little update, nothing really encouraging yet...
I started digging through my VMware images, and stumbled on a WinXP + SP1 installation. which produced the same BSOD.

I've tried basically disabling the whole program and it would still crash. I'm pretty lost. As its 4am right now I will continue digging around and see if I can get this to work properly when I have some more free time. It is just strange that on other VMWares, and both my windows installations it works flawless.

I have also I have recieved an email some time ago, from a user who digged somewhat deeper than we have in these threads. He found out that what causes the crash is not Core Temp itself, but a process named "csrss.exe". When you start Core Temp, it produces some critical error which Windows can't handle which results in a BSOD. Again, I'm unsure what I did that caused this problem yet, but I hope I find out real soon.

I may have found a solution!
If you want to test the fix, please contact me via one of my IMs. My test system stopped crashing. I need more computers with this problem to confirm the fix is working.

It worked fine for me until I started ripping a dvd. It crashes my computer within seconds if I start core temp while I'm ripping.

Which version of CT are you using that crashes while your DVD drive is ripping?

Core Temp 0.95.4 - Public Beta released on the front page.
Compatible with 2000/XP/2003/Vista.

Looks like the total shutdown bug is back with this version. 95.3 was working great too. Something you changed reverted it back to causing my computer to just power off again.

I don't think there's any changes in that part of the code since the 0.95.3. I haven't even touched the AMD side since I implemented the fix.

Is it something that constantly repeats, or it only happened once?

It was just once so far. But I have been using the beta 95.3 for almost 7 weeks or so with no shutdowns.

Last night I downloaded 95.4 and left it running overnight and this morning the computer was off just like the previous versions did.

I left 95.3 running all day today and it hasnt shut off yet. I'll try running 95.4 for the rest of the night and see if it does it again.

It's the same problem as every version except 95.3.

Been running 95.3 on vista and xp for past few days constantly and not one shutdown. Has to be something you changed between 95.3 and 95.4 that brought back the shutdown bug.

I have downloaded 95.4 not long ago and so far have had zero problems. I emailed Arthur several months ago saying that I had had a hard shutdown problem for a couple of months that I eventually tracked to CT. I could cause the shutdown deliberately by running the Memory Latency test in Everest home 2.2 whilst CT was running. Every time I ran the test, I would get a hard shutdown. I could run Orthos for 10+ hours with no problem and then get a shut down a few seconds after bootup.
95.4 does not exhibit this behaviour (so far). I will run it for a while and report back again.

An update regarding 95.4. I have been experiencing system freezes where I have had to power off the pc manually. Had been happening several times a day for a couple of weeks. Tried a few different things that did not work, then decided to shut down CT. Have had zero freezes since.
