Core Temp on Asus P5N-E 650i SLI board

Post by sbinh »

2 things happened:

1- Whenever change CPU Multiplier to different number than original value (i.e: E6600 C2D .. change from 9 to 8 ), CoreTemp reports wrong Frequency ( FSB is totally wrong ..... ie: set to 450MHz, coretemp reports 502)
Note: this issue also applies to Asus P5B Deluxe.

2- CPU temperature: CoreTemp reports much higher value comparing to Asus Probe II ( which is same in BIOS)
ex: Coretemp reports -- core0: 44*C , core1: 42*C
while: BIOS/Probe II: CPU temp: 36*C
(all at idle on E6600 which set to 3.6GHz)

Ain't feel the heat from CPU, but heat is pretty much from NB and SB.

This should really be in the bugs section.

1. This is a very well known issue, a fixed is planned for a future version.

2. This is not really a problem, Core Temp reads completely different sensors, so you can't really compare it to any regular program of temp monitoring.
