Re: CT - Incorrect temps OR Wow that thermal paste is Good!
Without knowing what CPU you are using, one can only take a guess. If it's an AMD FX CPU then none of the temp programs show the proper temps except in the 40C-70C range as confirmed by AMD engineering . As a result of the software readout error you can actually have idle temps that read below ambie...

Re: Core Temp filled with a bunch of PUP - PUP.Optional.Inst
I find the convoluted installation process with all the garbage-ware offers to be an insult and total PITA so I no longer recommend Core Temp to people as I have also had garbage-ware install even when I declined all offers. I'd suggest that you find a different means to receive compensation for you...

Re: Erratic readings and brief way over TJMAX. Normal?
FWIW the newer FX processors also jump around in temp a lot per-second because of AMD's more sophisticated power states used in these processors and the sampling rate. I don't believe 70C is the correct TjMax for the APUs as the graphic section can drive the processor temp higher than a normal discr...

Re: Core temp on a fx-4100
Eeven though some software shows each individual core temp on AMD CPUs/APUs, there is in fact no means to tell the individual core temps. There is only one temp registry output and it's assumed the other cores are running the same temp or close. Thus even with software that shows multiple core temps...

Re: Tj max is too high?
A 10C drop is exceptional even for AC 5, that's why I outlined some possible causes. The TjMax indicated temp would not have any effect on the Core Temp readings though.

Re: Tj max is too high?
Clearing the CMOS isn't likely to change anything. You might want to contact the mobo maker and explain the situation. They might have a BIOS CPU look-up table error that is mis-identifying the CPU model and thus causing Core Temp to list the TjMax based off of a different model CPU?

Re: Tj max is too high?
TjMax should not change based on the mobo. TjMax is the CPU theoretical max operating temp before throttling occurs. FWIW, Arctic Silver 5 (or any of the top 25+ TIMs which are very similar in performance), is good but it usually doesn't result in a 10C drop unless the prior TIM was the really bad, ...

Hello, just discovered the core temp app, and liked the widget on the desktop, but i noticed that while the asrock utility is showing 37c, the core temp plugin is showing 21-23c. Why that difference?. On what temp i should be trust more for safety. I'm using an amd fx 8320. Thanks in advance!!!! Th...

Re: TjMax alittle High? And cannot get mobile to connect
Actually TjMax on the FX-8350 is 70C and the max 24/7 operating temp according to AMD is 61.1C. Intel and AMD both publish their temps in Celsius. 70C = 158F 61C = 142F. The FX-8350 will start throttling the cores and vcore voltage at 70C. You should not experience any overheating issues with the OE...

AMD engineering reviewed the subject in detail at my request and confirmed the values shown were incorrect and they advised that the next iteration of AMD Overdrive would have this issue corrected. They could not advise when the next iteration would be released however.

Re: How to properly use Core Temp on AMD CPU

Re: CPU Temps questions
Intel CPU Tcase temps run hotter than AMD models by as much as 30C in some cases. The Tcase temp for the 3770 is 67C. (See link below). Folding can use 100% of the CPU continuously thus you need good cooling because few people ever use 100% CPU power continuously other than for folding, Prime or str...

88-90C would be fairly warm. Dust build-up or other airflow issues may account for the higher than normal temps.

Re: CPU Temps questions
When an Intel laptop CPU/APU gets to ~85C it's starting to operate at a temp higher than the designed normal operating range. From approx. 85C upwards the CPU/APU is progressing from hot to very hot to too hot when it reaches TjMax. TjMax is where the CPU/APU is so hot that the CPU/APU starts to thr...

Re: Overheat Protection
Your PC should not shut down when you hit TjMax. It should reduce the power and frequency of the CPU, i.e. throttle it until it cools down. That being said there is no reason why you should be operating any CPU at TjMax in normal operation even in video games or sustained heavy use. The only time a ...

Re: My CPU Runs At 32 Degrees Fahrenheit
AMD engineering has advised that none of the current temp monitor programs accurately report the CPU core temps on the 15h series CPUs. I expect that the latest AMD APUs use the same core temp sensor output and thus the temps will not read correctly at temps below ~40C. From 40C upwards the temps ar...

Re: How to know if the temp is good
40C at idle for a laptop is quite normal. Temps of 70C-90C are also normal on a laptop under heavy use. Laptop CPUs/APUs are specifically designed to function properly at these higher temps which are typical because of the minimal CPU/APU cooling systems employed on laptops. No fixed offset should b...

Re: FX 4100 on AsRock 970Ext4 Wrong temps displayed, help fi
According to AMD the temp info. that Core Temp and HW Monitor (and likely other programs), are reading is not being properly processed and thus the temp readouts are incorrect. It's obvious that the CPU temp at idle can't be below ambient. You also can not just use an fixed numeric offset to correct...
